Was Julianne Hough's Halloween Costume Offensive?

The beautiful Julianne Hough got in some trouble this past weekend after dressing up as "Crazy Eyes" from the hit show, Orange Is the New Black.

As you can see in the photo above, she went the "blackface" route, and many people found the whole thing very offensive. She received so much criticism that she was forced to apologize...

"I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Clearly, she didn't mean to hurt anyone. She was simply dressing up as a character she liked for Halloween. However, people still think that "blackface" is unacceptable, even if you are doing it out of appreciation for a character.
